Hongyan Gao

Postdoctoral Associate in Medicine

Hongyan is a postdoctoral researcher in the Arifuzzaman Lab at Weill Cornell Medicine and is originally from China. She received her B.S. in Biology from Zhengzhou University and earned her Ph.D. in Biology from Tsinghua University. Before joining the Arifuzzaman Lab, Hongyan focused on the human gut virome, with a particular emphasis on prophages and their role in regulating intestinal homeostasis. Currently, she is interested in how diet-driven microbial modulation influences gut immunity and contributes to disease. Outside of the lab, Hongyan enjoys cooking, traveling, and spending time in parks.
