Research Technician Lab Manager
Leyla is a research technician and lab manager for the Arifuzzaman Lab at Weill Cornell Medicine. She graduated from Columbia University in with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering. Before joining the Arifuzzaman Lab, Leyla worked as a research assistant in the Cellular Engineering Lab at Columbia under Dr. Clark Hung, studying chemical and physical influences on cells in order to incorporate these findings into functional tissue replacements of clinical relevance. Now, Leyla is interested in immunology and understanding how our diet impacts the gut microbiota. Outside of the lab, she enjoys exploring art museums, playing soccer, and traveling.
